David Anthony Managing Partner

David AnthonyDavid Anthony [] is an experienced entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and educator. Mr. Anthony sits on the board of portfolio companies: Agent Video Intelligence, Orion Solar, BioPetroClean, Cell2Bet, Juice Wireless, Visioneered Image Systems, and VOIP Logic.

David is an Adjunct Professor at the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS). The Academy, based in Manhattan brings together scientists of different disciplines from around the world to advance the understanding of science, technology, and medicine, and to stimulate new ways to think about how their research is applied in society and the world. The Academy is widely recognized as one of the world's foremost organizers of scientific conferences and symposia. David's students at the Academy hail from such prestigious institutions as Columbia, NYU, Princeton, Yale, Rockefeller University, Sloan Kettering, and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

David also serves as entrepreneur-in-residence at the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Business, where he teaches 3 courses including "From Idea to IPO – The Technology Venture," "Technology Ventures Business Planning," and "Negotiating Technology Agreements."

In 1995, David launched Notorious Entertainment, a developer of multimedia brands, which published the internationally distributed magazine Notorious, and developed an early streaming website. In 1998, he sold the company to entertainment mogul Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs, and ran the company for two subsequent years. Before Notorious, Mr. Anthony, with Dartmouth College Professor John K. Shank, consulted Fortune 500 clients on capital investments, mergers and acquisitions, and entrepreneurship.

David received his MBA from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in 1989 and a BA in economics from George Washington University in 1982. He is an entrepreneurship mentor at the Land Center for Entrepreneurship at Columbia University Graduate School of Business. In 2002, David was awarded the Distinguished Mentor of the Year Award from Columbia University. He is also a member of the New Leadership Network of AIPAC, American Israeli Public Affairs Committee.

Buddy Flerl Operating Partner

Buddy FlerlBuddy Flerl [] is currently CEO of Agent Video Intelligence, one of 21Ventures portfolio companies. He also sits on the Board of portfolio companies Agent Video Intelligence and Visioneered Image Systems.

Buddy is a seasoned technology operating professional and a regarded expert in connectivity, messaging and adaptive supply chain technologies. Buddy has served as a Vice President of Sales for QRS Corporation, a $150 million supply chain software company, where he held responsibility for all application software sales, channel sales, presales teams and industry consulting units worldwide. Prior to QRS, Buddy worked for two companies within the MPS Group (NYSE: MPS) global consulting umbrella, where he was a key factor in the success of the firm's $1.5 billion acquisitive roll-up, by delivering quadruple-digit revenue growth, integrating disparate sales organizations nationwide, and enhancing the organization's broader messaging in the enterprise software space.

Buddy had a distinguished tenure in Fortune 1000 enterprise software sales as an outside expert for IBM Corporation. He later served in a variety of sales and management roles at MarketSource Corporation, a multinational business and consumer sales consultancy, where he became an expert at building, leading and optimizing customer-facing organizations. In 2002, he founded vamüz Advisors, a global market and advisory firm serving the enterprise software market. Buddy holds an AB degree in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a minor in German.

Lyle Deitch Operating Partner

Lyle DeitchLyle Deitch [] sits on the Board of portfolio companies Agent Video Intelligence and BioPetroClean.

Lyle has a strong background in venture capital and early stage technology company development having spent several years as a Principal of Internet Partnership Group, a technology incubator and investment fund in New York. Lyle is also an accomplished entrepreneur having founded and successfully exited American Mold Testing, a high growth environmental remediation firm in Manhattan, and Dimension Online Media, a technology consulting firm also in Manhattan. Prior to joining 21 Ventures, Lyle served as Director of Business Development for PropertyRoom.com, an online auction site serving the municipal and law enforcement communities.

Lyle holds an MBA from the University of Oxford and a BS in Commerce with a Concentration in Accounting from the University of Virginia. At Oxford, Lyle founded the Said Business School Venture Fund, the first student managed venture fund in Europe.

Sheldon Freedman Operating Partner

Sheldon FreedmanShelly Freedman [] performs financial and legal services for 21Ventures portfolio companies Orion Solar, Visioneered Image Systems, and VoIP Logic, and sits on the Board of each of those companies.

Shelly Freedman is a Wall Street lawyer with 20 years experience in the technology business in the United States and Israel. As an attorney, Shelly has worked as outside counsel to investors and technology companies in corporate finance, technology transfer and securities compliance, and has served as in-house counsel to a billion-dollar technology company. As a technology executive, Shelly has served in numerous full-time senior positions in early-stage software companies.

Shelly teaches the business law segment of the commercialization of technology course for postdoctoral scientists at New York Academy of Sciences, "From Idea to IPO – The Technology Venture". He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Toronto and a law degree from the University of Windsor. He is admitted to the Bars of New York, Israel and Ontario (Canada).

Steven Corenblum Administrative Partner

Steven CorenblumSteven Corenblum [] works part time for 21 Ventures in legal administration of 21Ventures portfolio companies. He served as Managing Partner of the Berkowitz firm from 1997 until 2003. Mr. Corenblum has served on several civic and community boards, including the Birmingham Jewish Foundation, the Mountain Brook Library (Chair 2000–2002), Birmingham Jewish Federation (Executive Committee 1993–1998) and Collat Jewish Family Services. He is the Immediate Past President of Temple Beth-El.

Peter Gyenes Fund Advisor

Peter has more than 30 years of experience in sales, marketing and general management positions within the computer systems and software industry.

Peter has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Ascential Software Corporation (formerly known as Informix Corporation), a global provider of information management software, from July of 2000 until its acquisition by IBM for $1.1 billion.

Prior to the Company's acquisition of Ardent Software, Inc. ("Ardent") in March 2000, he was chairman, president and Chief Executive Officer of Ardent, which he joined in May 1996. Before joining Ardent, he was president and Chief Executive Officer of Racal InterLan, Inc. Previously, Peter served in executive sales, marketing, and general management positions at Prime Computer Inc., Encore Computer and Data General Corporation. Earlier in his career, Peter held technical positions with Xerox Data Systems and IBM. He serves on the boards of Applix Computer Systems, Concerto Software, the Massachusetts Software and Internet Council and ViryaNet Ltd. Peter received a B.A. degree in Mathematics and an M.B.A. degree from Columbia University. Peter sits on the Board of Juice Wireless.
